This year for the 15th time, MLPT together with the Regional Development Bank Association (Asbanda) held a BPD Forum event, which is an annual forum attended by directors and IT leaders from BPD throughout Indonesia to get updated information about IT support for banking businesses in their regions. This year the event was held again in Bali, precisely at the Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort. This year’s BPD Forum participants’ enthusiasm was very high, with a total of 54 participants coming from 25 BPDs (19 directors from 15 BPDs), plus Asbanda representatives.

The event was opened with a speech from Mr. Wahyudi Chandra, who conveyed that the BPD throughout Indonesia could take advantage of this series of BPD Forum events to help BPD be ready to enter the digital era and increase competitiveness in driving the Indonesian economy. Asbanda Representative, Mr. Wimran Ismaun as the Executive Director of Asbanda also welcomed this event, which is in line with the Asbanda agenda and can be utilized by the BPD to improve its services so that loyal customers and BPDs can host their own areas. From the host of Bank BPD Bali, Mr. I Nyoman Sudharma as Managing Director of Bank BPD Bali, hopes that MLPT can synergize BPDSI by creating products and services that can be shared together.

This time we bring Keynote Speaker Mr. Rico Usthavia Frans, Director of Information Technology and Operations at Bank Mandiri, explained that currently 95% of transactions are carried out through e-channels, so Bank Mandiri must prepare a platform that is safe, reliable and scalable, and safeguards by investing in cyber security. What’s interesting is the transformation of mentality and process so that Bank Mandiri can agile, and automation policies and processes are more adaptive. Bank Mandiri also realizes that with customer data that has been revolve around can become ‘new oil’ to be explored more in its behavior to support the strategy in the digital revolution and synergize with fintech.

And what’s more interesting is, the Keynote Speaker session by Mr. Harianto Gunawan, Director of Enterprise Payment OVO. According to him, the most important thing in making payment products is the ecosystem, which is where the product is used, both in offline and online merchants. OVO has implemented an open ecosystem, meaning that it is always collaborating and open to synergize with BPD, such as Wallet Integration & Loyalty with open API OVO through BPD’s own mobile banking; Cash-in & Cash-out (withdrawal and transfer of funds) which are currently free of transfer fees; Exchange for Loyalty points that are given for certain segments or for sales agents; and QR Payments for payments.
As in previous years, the BPD Forum was supported by MLPT business partners such as IBM, Cisco, Fortinet, Microsoft, Nutanix, Oracle, Syncsort, Sangfor Technologies, VMware, Ingram, Sinergi Wahana Gemilang, Synnex Metrodata Indonesia, Tech Data Indonesia, and MLPT’s subsidiary, GTN.
The event was enlivened by sponsors’ booths arranged neatly, with various solutions where participants could try directly the solutions displayed.
