This year, for the 14th time, MLPT together with the Association of Regional Development Banks (Asbanda) held a BPD Forum event, which is an annual forum attended by directors and IT leaders from BPD in Indonesia to get updated information on IT support for banking businesses in their respective regions. This year the event was held again in Bali at Sofitel Hotel Nusa Dua.

The event opened with an opening speech from Wahyudi Chandra, President Director of MLPT, who encouraged BPD all over Indonesia to utilize BPD Forum events as a forum to share experiences and get the latest technology trends, as well as get to know how to collaborate to achieve better business results. Digital trends in general cannot be avoided, and BPD can see this as a business opportunity, which is certainly supported by technologies such as host-to-host or interconnection with others so as to provide fraud-free 24×7 services.

The event was then followed by a statement from the host of Bank BPD Bali, delivered by Drs. I Ketut Nurcahya, M.M. as PLTS Board of Directors of Bank BPD Bali. He welcomed the implementation of BPD Forum 2018 and conveyed that the banking business cannot be separated from information technology, where the progress of information technology must be followed in order not to be left behind. The first day closed with a closing statement by a representation from Asbanda, Mr. Wimran Ismaun, Executive Director of Asbanda. BPD Forum event is in line with Asbanda’s agenda and can be used for BPD in Indonesia to synergize together.

As in previous years, BPD Forum was supported by various MLPT business partners such as IBM Software, NCR, F5, Sinergi Wahana Gemilang, Tech Data Indonesia / Fortinet, Syncsort, Symantec, Cisco. In addition, it was also supported by VDI and GTN the subsidiary of MLPT.

On the second day, the event opened with an opening statement from Sujanto Halim from MLPT and continued with a keynote speaker session by DR. Handito Joewono, Chief Strategy Consultant at ARRBEY and Chairman of the Association of Technology Startup Indonesia (ATSINDO). He gave light to what is done at the Fintech Association of Indonesia that no fintech can run alone which means they need partners or ecosystems, and how BPDs can become part of this ecosystem. He provided insight from a start-up point of view on how to collaborate with BPD, how to collaborate on these advances so that fintechs are no longer viewed as a threat, but as a means to which businesses can further move forward. Do not let our company get eliminated and die because it is not ready to innovate.

Next was a presentation by¬† Achmad Fakhrudin, “Providing Insight of Your Customer’s Data to Improve Business Understanding”, which promoted VisionAnalytics cognitive module solutions, and continued with a Round Table Discussion session at seven specifically arranged tables. The event is enlivened by well-laid sponsors’ booths with various solutions where participants are able to directly test the featured devices / solutions.
